In the beginning of March, Longwood's Graduate Student Association (GSA) had the opportunity to attend an Inaugural Summit consisting of all Virginia Schools with graduate programs. Of all of the schools invited, eight Virginia schools were able to attend including Longwood, UVA, William and Mary, VCU, Norfolk State, ODU, Virginia Tech, and JMU.

Longwood had three graduate students attend the summit including the president of GSA, Emory Read, along with Marie Danner and Morgan Cassady. All three students are currently enrolled in Longwood's Counselor Education School Counseling track. At the summit, each school presented information on how their GSA operates. Then as a group, they discussed and shared ideas on how to help one another and benefit more graduate students in the future. "It was a great experience to try and help Longwood's GSA grow and learn from the other schools," said Read. "We presented on Longwood's graduate program as a whole and also how we run the GSA, including positions and social media presence."

As the experience proved to be valuable to all who attended, the summit has now become an annual meeting amongst the Virginia schools.
