How should my mail be addressed?

All Faculty & Staff mail should be addressed as follows:

How can I send on-campus mail?

All on-campus mail is delivered free of charge and should contain the following information:

(Student's full name)
(Student's Box #)
Your return address and date mailed

(Faculty or staff person's full name)
(Department or office)
Your return address and date mailed

When can I pick up my mail?

Packages and signature required mail can be picked up at the window between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Closed on Saturday and Sunday.

How do I mail a package?

Bring your package to the Longwood Post Office sales counter located in the Graham Hall. We will give you several options and prices to compare and even make suggestions. We do not have packaging for sale, but occasionally have "used" packaging donated to us by students, to give away. We accept cash, Lancer CA$H, and personal checks made out to Longwood University. Sorry, no credit or debit cards at this time.

Can I buy stamps at the University Post Office?

Yes! We offer a wide selection of stamps and just about anything else you can get from the USPS except Registered Mail and money orders.

How do I fill out a mail slip?

Write your department's name on the department line. Write the department budget code that you want to charge to on the budget code line. Check the box for the service you would like to use. At the bottom of the slip sign and date.

Do I have to have my I.D. to pick up my mail? 

Yes. without a photo I.D. you cannot pick up your mail.

Can someone else pick up my mail?

Yes, only with your permission. The person picking up your mail will have to show a photo I.D.

What happens to my mail over the summer? 

 If you will be staying on campus during the summer, you need to notify Mail Services. So, we can hold your mail. For all others, mail is forwarded to your permanent mailing address for the first couple of months. Then if you will not be returning to campus and if you have not updated your address your mail will be returned to the sender. 

My package says it is delivered, but it is not at the Post Office on campus, where is it? 


 The Farmville Post Office does not deliver to campus. When they scan a package as "Delivered" it is still at the Farmville Post Office. The Longwood University Post Office picks up mail twice a day from the Farmville Post Office.
