Four College of Business & Economics faculty members were recognized with faculty awards at Longwood University’s 2026 Convocation, reflecting the college’s strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.
Congratulations to the following faculty members:
Meg Michelsen: Simpson Distinguished Professorship
The Simpson Distinguished Professorship was established through a generous gift from Murray
S. Simpson Jr. and Cora S. Simpson to recognize and support faculty who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to outstanding scholarship through publications, presentations or creative work.
Dr. Michelsen’s scholarship focuses on three primary areas: sensory marketing, fashion marketing, and artificial intelligence and emerging trends in consumer behavior.
Her research examines how verbal olfactory cues influence consumers’ perceptions of and purchase intentions toward scented products when those products cannot be experienced through smell online; the relationship between fashion products and consumer identity; and how companies’ use of artificial intelligence affects consumer trust, attitudes and behavioral responses.
Pubali Mukherjee: 2026 Graduate Faculty Research Award

The Graduate Faculty Research Award recognizes unique or innovative work within a faculty member’s discipline that results in publications or other distinguished scholarly projects representing advancement in the field.
Dr. Mukherjee’s research focuses on consumer behavior in AI-mediated interactions and the adoption of artificial intelligence. Her work explores how AI interfaces can empower or disempower consumers.
Using research methods that include content analysis, experimental design and in-depth interviews, Dr. Mukherjee has made significant contributions to the study of AI-mediated consumer interactions. Her research, published in influential marketing journals, advances theoretical frameworks while providing practical, human-centered insights into the evolving role of artificial intelligence in the marketplace.
Hannan Sadjady Naeeni: Maude Glenn Raiford Teaching Award
The Maude Glenn Raiford Teaching Award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate
excellence in teaching through areas such as innovative instruction, student motivation, curricular development, academic rigor, course organization and the incorporation of research on teaching and learning.
Dr. Naeeni teaches Supply Chain Management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a strong emphasis on connecting classroom learning with industry practice.
He regularly brings logistics and supply chain professionals into his courses and organizes field trips to regional transportation and logistics companies. He also founded Supply Chain Insights, an alumni speaker series that connects students with Longwood graduates working in supply chain management and related fields.
Haley Woznyj: Susan H. May Scholarship Award
The Susan H. May Scholarship Award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate excellence
in scholarship through sustained scholarly activity, publications, presentations, grant development and other significant contributions to their disciplines.
Dr. Woznyj’s scholarship centers on three interconnected areas that advance the understanding of organizational and employee well-being.
A primary focus of her research examines how organizational factors—including human resource management practices and leadership behaviors—shape employee job attitudes and contribute to both individual and organizational well-being. Her work addresses important questions about how organizations can create environments in which employees are able to thrive.
