Interested in creating a faculty-led study abroad program? This two-part workshop series aims to inspire faculty to submit proposals and help them understand the process from proposal to post-course reflection.  Join us for an interactive two-part workshop designed to guide you through developing an international course experience.

Workshop 1: Exploring Study Abroad Opportunities We will explore the significance of study abroad programs, examining different models and resources available to faculty. We'll discuss the expectations for both faculty and students, providing an overview of international academic experiences. Participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm potential program concepts and learn about navigating the initial proposal process.

Workshop 2: Proposal Development We will introduce faculty to the study abroad portal, working directly with campus experts to help you develop a robust proposal. You'll receive guidance on addressing key components such as budget planning, course design, and travel logistics. Our goal is to support you in drafting a submission-ready proposal that captures the essence of your proposed international academic experience.

GRANT INFORMATION SESSION

OFFICE OF RESEARCH, GRANTS, AND SPONSORED PROJECTS
Later this month, the Office of Research, Grants, and Sponsored Projects will host a brief webinar to introduce faculty and staff members to the services available to them through our partnership with Hanover Research.  Do any of these questions resonate with you?

  • Do you have a project in mind that you think is a fit for external funding?
  • Are you interested in learning about the grant process?
  • Would you like to hear about self-serve digital resources, like comprehensive grant calendars for your field?
  • Are you curious about the kind of support available to Longwood’s grant writers?

If you’re interested in learning more about topics like these, please join us at 3:30 PM on Thursday, January 30, to meet our Hanover Research partners and hear about how they can support your work.  The Zoom information is provided below.

Longwood faculty and staff members have secured funding for a wide range of projects that support teaching, research, outreach, student support services, and more.  It’s worth noting that this is a promising time for grants as many funding organizations are emphasizing work in rural communities.  Among the Commonwealth’s four-year institutions, Longwood ranks highest for rural-serving attributes, a characteristic that can be used to strengthen a compelling grant narrative.

If you have questions, please reach out to Alix Fink (finkad@longwood.edu) or Jim Wiecking (wieckingjw@longwood.edu).
