CAFE would like to give you a chance to have some fun “making” while you cultivate gratitude and improve your relationships. Make a thank you card FOR someone TO whom you are grateful: colleague, boss, family member—anyone! We’ll provide the materials: you just pop by and craft.

MAY THE FARCE BE WITH YOU: A FACULTY RECEPTION
Date: Thursday, May 2nd 5-6:30pm

As your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate, we invite you to celebrate the end of the semester with CAFE’s 2nd annual Star Wars Spaceballs-themed reception (May the 4th is a Saturday…what could we do?). To ensure a good time is had by all, our staff are combing the desert to find themed snacks, drinks, and music. So please join us for some fun refreshments, conversation, and to catch some of Mel Brooks’ 1987 classic (showing in Allen 308). Oh, and come as you are; no need to wear plaid. 

CAFE AND QEP ADVISORY COMMITTEE COLLABORATION
11TH ANNUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING INSTITUTE 2024: CONSIDER LIFE DESIGN
When: Monday, May 13 from 8:30-5:00pm

The Center for Faculty Enrichment (CAFE) and the Quality Enhancement Plan Advisory Board invite ALL faculty and staff to discover life design, a framework of the new Post-Graduate Success Initiative QEP.

On Monday, May 13th, Institute participants will explore ways to implement Life Design in the varied contexts of work with students, including 1:1 mentoring and advising, small and large group co-curricular support, and teaching in Civitae and in academic majors. The schedule will include a keynote, concurrent learning sessions, implementation work sessions, and a celebratory reception to end the day. By the end of the Institute, all participants should be ready to prototype activities and discussions that help students consider their life design.

Designing Your Life Virtual Event
All are invited to also attend a pre-Institute virtual event on Friday, May 10th.  Inspired by Stanford’s Life Design Studio, participants will immerse themselves in life design as students, applying life design to their own life and vocational wayfinding.

CAFE AND CIVITAE COLLABORATION
CONSTRUCTIVE DIALOGUE INSTITUTE TRAINING AND EVENTS
The Constructive Dialogue Institute (CDI) will offer multiple virtual trainings and workshops during the spring semester for faculty and staff interested in developing skills in the area of facilitating dialogue with students.  Topics this spring include incorporating dialogue in the classroom and balancing free speech while limiting harm to marginalized groups on campus.

FOCUSED PRODUCTIVITY SESSIONS
Join CAFE for pomodoro sessions again this semester. All faculty and staff are welcome. The sessions use a focused cycle: set a goal, work towards it for 25 minutes, and then take a five-minute break. You will repeat the cycle three times. Choose the session that fits your needs:
