THIS WEEK

HOW CHEATABLE IS YOUR ASSIGNMENT? (AND TIPS FOR REVISION)

A CAFE and DEC Collaborative Program
When: Thursday, September 14 from 12:30-1:30pm OR Friday September 15 from 12-1pm
Location: Allen 308
With the ubiquitous availability, free cost, and ease-of-use of large language model AI platforms, students may be tempted to cheat on written assignments. For this workshop, we ask that participants bring writing assignments so that we can work together to discover if a) the assignment lends itself to AI use and b) find ways to revise the assignment to ensure that students are submitting their own work and meeting your courser learning outcomes.

A CAFE and DEC Collaborative Program
When: Thursday, October 12 from 12:30-1:30pm OR Friday October 13 from 12-1pm

The speed of technological development of large language models over the past 10 months is simply amazing. In addition to ChatGPT, models like BARD, claude, LLaMA, Dolly, and Gorilla are being used to generate content. In this session, we’ll spend about 30 minutes discussing recent news and dedicate the remainder of the session for participants to share their classroom experiences thus far in the semester.

HOW CHEATABLE IS YOUR FINAL EXAM? (AND TIPS FOR REVISION)
A CAFE and DEC Collaborative Program
When: Thursday, November 16 from 12:30-1:30pm OR Friday, November 17 from 12-1pm
Location: Allen 308
As we head into the home stretch of the semester, it’s time to put the finishing touches on our final exams. This session is designed to help participants work through some ideas to ensure that the written portion of their final exam is framed in such a way that AI tools will not be helpful to students.
