What

The changes in this recent release of Panopto include minor changes to the video cards (sometimes referred to as video thumbnails or poster images) you see in your Panopto libraries, such as rounding the corners. Panopto also moved the action buttons (for example, Share and Edit) in the Grid and Preview layouts. Previously, these were in a separate row of buttons next to the video cards, and now they are shown as overlay buttons that appear in front of a video card when you hover over it (see example in Figure 1). Since all the buttons may not fit on the video card, the last button shown on the right is now an overflow button menu that can contain actions such as Edit, Stats, and Delete (depending on what permissions you have for that video).

Why

Panopto wants to make its experience even easier and more enjoyable for content creators and viewers. This is the first in a series of minor UX changes Panopto will be making through August 2023. They’ll update the look and feel of Panopto libraries with little or no changes in end-user behavior.

How

Since the UX changes are minor, they’ll be applied to your Panopto libraries automatically as they roll out. No action is required on the part of Panopto administrators, content creators, nor viewers.
