“TO BE OR NOT TO BE”

A SHAKESPEARE TEXT AND AUDITION VISITING ARTISTS WORKSHOP

Monday, October 8th 3:30 – 6:00 PM

Come explore tools which actors and directors and scholars of Shakespeare can use to unlock the passion of Shakespeare’s text from the printed page and beyond!

Visiting Artists Brandon Carter and Zoe Speas will be holding this workshop on Monday,

October 8th from 3:30 PM until 6:00 PM in the Lab Theatre performance space located in CSTAC. These two New York-based artists will offer guidance and techniques from their background in

Shakespeare performance with such companies as the Classical Theatre of Harlem; the Onomatopoeia Theatre; the Lounge theatre in New York City; the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, Virginia; the Virginia Repertory Theatre; Virginia Shakespeare Festival; Richmond Shakespeare, and the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival. They have an extensive body of performance work regionally in the United States, and internationally in London, Wales, and South Africa.

What do you need to bring? Your choice! Brandon and Zoe are happy to provide texts for you to work with, or you can bring your own 10 lines of prepared Shakespearean text (verse only). THEY ASK IF YOU HAVE TEXT YOU ARE GOING TO BRING, PLEASE SEND THE INFORMATION ON THE SELECTION YOU WILL BE BRINGING TO speasbo@longwood.edu PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP. IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND THE WORKSHOP AND PARTICIPATE PLEASE RSVP TO THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS.
