The policy applies to Classified employees and Administrative and Professional faculty only. Instructional faculty attendance is addressed in the Longwood Faculty Policies and Procedures Manual.
In the case of personal illness or injury exceeding three (3) consecutive workdays, upon return to work, the University employee must present his or her immediate supervisor with a physician's certification stating the following information:
- the nature of the illness;
- the date when the employee can return to work; and
- restrictions if any
The physician's certification is a requirement, not a discretionary consideration. All physician's certification statements should be forwarded to the Office of Human Resources by the supervisor or department head for permanent file retention.
Longwood University will be following all other provisions under the Department of Human Resources Management (DHRM) and Longwood University policies.
