With colorful cut-paper banners strung from the ceiling and mariachi music playing on the stereo, the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts will whisk families from Farmville to Mexico for one art-filled morning. On Saturday, October 27, from 10:30 a.m-12:30pm, LCVA will host its annual Día de los Muertos Free Family Workshop, with fantastico art activities! The event is free and open to the public; children must be accompanied by an adult.

A Shared Legacy: FOLK ART IN AMERICA tells the story of the extraordinary work created by self-taught or minimally trained artists in New England, the Midwest, the Mid-Atlantic, and the South between 1800 and 1925.
The exhibition showcases more than 60 works by some of the most admired 19th-century American artists. Included are rare and very fine portraits by such artists as Ammi Phillips and John Brewster, Jr.; vivid still lifes, allegorical scenes and landscapes, including a mature Peaceable Kingdom by Edward Hicks (above)

LeUyen Pham (but you can call her “Win”) is an award-winning author and illustrator of more than 100 books for children. "There's No Such Thing As Little" will remain on view August 18-November 25th, with a Reception with the artist, October 19th 5:30-8:00pm.
