MLK Jumpsuit Project Jan 24, 2020

Friday, January 24, 20207:00PM - Friday, January 24, 20208:00PM
At Wygal 204
Organized by Office of Multicultural Affairs

The Jumpsuit Project is a dynamic program created by Sherrill Roland that ignites conversations around issues related to incarceration. Roland's performances challenge those who encounter the orange jumpsuit by encouraging them to address their own prejudices towards those incarcerated.  Roland, a wrongfully convicted African American male, was incarcerated while attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He was charged in October 2013 and sentenced to 13 months. He served 10 months in the Central Detention Facility in Washington, D.C. Through sharing his own story and creating a space for others to share, light is being shed on the enormous darkness incarceration brings.
