The third annual Longwood Animation Film Festival, hosted by the Graphic and Animation Design program, highlights the work of short-film animators from around the world. All submissions for the festival are under 10 minutes and are animated in 2D, 3D or stop motion. The opening night of the festival (March 22) will feature a guest speaker, animated short-film viewings and a gallery opening. The second day of the festival (March 23) offers a three-hour workshop on animation. Selected animated shorts will run on a loop in the Bedford Gallery until April 6. The festival is free and open to the public.

LAFF Schedule:

Friday, March 22

  • 5:15 p.m. — Presentation by guest speaker Rodrigo Gómez, assistant professor of animation at Middle Tennessee State University
  • 6 p.m. — Gallery opening and film showings
  • 7 p.m. — Story creation workshop for animators and non-writers  

Saturday, March 23

  • 9 a.m. – noon — Workshop covering character design and a brief exploration of developing animated intellectual properties
