You are cordially invited to a concert of songs on Sunday, March 24, 2024, 4pm, Molnar Recital Hall
Dr. Christopher Swanson and Dr. Lisa Kinzer will perform two works in this program. This first is An die ferne Geliebte by Beethoven, a set of connected songs that expresses the longing of lovers who are separated by a vast distance of space. The second is The Holy Sonnets of John Donne by Benjamin Britten. This song cycle, a major work for voice and piano, explores the struggles and complexities of faith. Britten set nine of John Donne's Holy Sonnets in a fashion that perfectly compliments the moods and intricacies of the words but remains lyrically and impactful.
The program will last about one hour.
