On Monday April 8, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, United States, and Canada. Here in Farmville, we will see 84% coverage of the sun, peaking at around 3:17 p.m. Please join the Department of Chemistry and Physics to safely witness this once in a lifetime, awe inspiring celestial event!

Join us on Wheeler Lawn between 1-4:30 p.m. to view the eclipse through our solar filter telescopes.

Additionally, the Cook-Cole College of Arts and Sciences has provided eclipse glasses for safely watching the eclipse from anywhere. These will be available to pick up at the following locations on Monday, starting at 9:00 a.m.:

  • Greenwood Library Atrium
  • In front of Dorrill Dining Hall
  • Beale Plaza Fountain
  • Upchurch University Center, behind the food court

Eclipses have fascinated humans from the beginning. Don’t miss this opportunity to safely view this exciting event
