Are you tired of endlessly searching through YouTube for videos appropriate for class use? Do you constantly think that you’ve finally found one with a promising title only to find it’s actually a kid’s highly inaccurate school project?

The library has a solution for you… well, actually TWO solutions: Kanopy Streaming Media Collection & Films on Demand.

Here are some tips to get started in those databases.

Kanopy Streaming Media Collection Tips:

  • Type keywords into the search bar at the top of the page, or use the “Browse” drop down menu to browse by subject
  • Create an account to add videos to a watch list or create your own clips from full length features.
  • Once a video is selected, there are options including “transcript” and” citation tool” as well as lists of related videos.

Films on Demand Tips:

  • Type keywords into the search bar at the top of the page, or browse by subject using the “Menu” to the left of the search bar.
  • You can narrow your search by searching full titles or shorter segments using the “filters” menu on the right of a results page.
  • Once a video is selected, there is a menu to the right of the video with options for browsing segments, “details,” and “transcript. There are also buttons directly below the video for “citation,” “embed/link,” and “share.”
