James Madison University's 13th Annual MadRush Undergraduate Conference will take place virtually this year on Saturday, March 26, 2022.  

The MadRush Undergraduate Research Conference seeks undergraduate research and/or creative works in written, poster or web-based formats from any Humanities or Social Science discipline. Due of the pandemic, this year’s conference will be completely virtual.

MadRush offers undergraduate student scholars in the humanities and social sciences a supportive and comfortable venue in which to present their research.  

How to apply: Interested students should submit a 100-150-word project or presentation abstract to madrush@jmu.edu no later than 5:00pm on Monday, February 14, 2022.

Abstracts should be word files and should include author, academic major, institution, and title of presentation. Submission of whole panel sessions on related paper topics are also welcomed– please include above information for all panelists.

Presentation Format: Students selected for the conference will be notified by email in late- February. Presenters will need to have access to Zoom to participate in the all-virtual conference.

MadRush Best Paper Prizes/Publication in MadRush Undergraduate Research Journal: Students who have been accepted to present at the conference may submit their completed project for publication consideration in our undergraduate journal MadRush Undergraduate Research Journal. A group of faculty referees will select papers for publication.

The top three papers will receive monetary prizes—1st place: $100; 2nd place: $75; 3rd place: $50. The submission deadline for publication and prize consideration will be in late February. Winners will be announced at the end of the conference.
