Editorial Positions at Omnipedia Review

Deadline: October 2, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

The Office of Student Research invites current graduate and undergraduate students to apply to be Readers and Copy Editors for The Omnipedia Review, a peer-reviewed, online review journal at Longwood University for students from all disciplines.  The journal publishes review essays (2500-3000 words) and review articles (5000-6000 words). Readers receive a $750 stipend per semester and Copy Editors receive a $1000 stipend per semester. Readers and Copy Editors hired this semester will receive training in the processes of the journal in November and should expect to begin reviewing submissions at the beginning of Spring 2018. Collegiate Undergraduate Research and Inquiry Opportunities (CURIO) Program

Deadline: October 31, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

The Office of Student Research (OSR) invites rising sophomores, juniors and seniors to apply for the Collegiate Undergraduate Research and Inquiry Opportunities (CURIO) program. CURIO student researchers engage in student-initiated research and submit a manuscript to an undergraduate, graduate or professional scholarly journal for publication.  The Spring Only Option runs during the spring semester.  Students receive a $1200 stipend and faculty mentors receive a $1500 stipend. The Spring-Through-Summer Option includes the spring semester, a 2-week virtual summer session and a 3-week summer writing retreat in residence. The Office of Student Research invites faculty and staff to attend one of two information sessions for the Collegiate Undergraduate Research and Inquiry Opportunities (CURIO) Program. The session will explain significant changes to the program and answer questions about the application process and the program. Registration is free but required. How To Successfully Apply for the CURIO Program (Student Workshop)

Do you want to do undergraduate research, but don’t know where to start? Have you done research in class but want to take it further? Do you have a research project that you want to start? If you answered yes to any of these questions, come to this workshop to learn how to talk state your research interests, avoid common application mistakes and increase the likelihood of submitting a successful application. All disciplines are welcome to attend the workshop, which will feature hot appetizers, including Pecan Chicken Tenders, Mini Cheeseburger Sliders, Bacon Wrapped Scallops and Vegetable Spring Rolls.
