De'Siree Fairley '18 published her paper, "The Effect on Existence," as part of the 2019 Spring Presentation of Undergraduate Research (SPUR19), a digital initiative that collects and archives exemplary course-based student research. Using the Rashomon effect as an interpretative lens, Fairley argues that "the audience must analyze their own biases" and "recognize the relationship of humanity and validation given through names in the texts to these people who are often silenced." Read and download Fairley's entire paper on Longwood University's Digital Commons.
SPUR supports Goal 3 of Longwood University's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), "to improve students' learning by advancing an understanding of the importance of disseminating the results of research" by highlighting student research on the student research portal.
