2021 Virginia Assessment Group Annual Conference

The  is going virtual this year. The conference will take place online November 18-19, featuring keynote sessions from Dr. Allison Calhoun-Brown of Georgia State University and Dr. Kate McConnell of AAC&U, as well as interactive workshops and poster sessions focused on four key areas: embracing the whole student; building assessment frameworks; leveraging results; and connecting teaching, learning, and assessment. The Virginia Assessment Group welcomes everyone who engages with assessment, including assessment professionals but also librarians, student affairs staff, faculty, and graduate students.

2021 Assessment Institute

The Assessment Institute, hosted by IUPUI and usually held in Indianapolis, Indiana, is the oldest and largest higher education event in the United States focused on assessment and improvement.  October 24-27, 2021, they will once again offer a virtual conference and provide complimentary registration to members of the higher education community.

The Assessment Institute is designed to provide opportunities for (1) individuals and campus teams new to higher education assessment and improvement to acquire fundamental knowledge about the field; (2) individuals who have worked as leaders in assessment and improvement to share and extend their knowledge and skills; and (3) those interested in assessment and improvement at any level or in any collegiate context to establish networks that serve as sources of support and expertise beyond the dates of the Institute.

Longwood Faculty and Staff Spring 2021 Assessment Professional Development

As Longwood continues to advance and strengthen the assessment planning processes of its academic programs and administrative and academic support services, a professional development program for faculty and staff responsible for assessment planning of programs and services was initiated in spring/summer 2021. The program included a short course in Canvas, small group workshop, and 1:1 support from a designated assessment mentor. From engagement in this professional development sequence, faculty and staff produced clearly written and descriptive reports for informed decision making within academic programs, administrative and academic support services entities, and the institution.

From faculty and staff survey feedback, further professional development plans in collaboration with the Committee on Academic Program Assessment and Review (CAPAR), the Administrative Assessment Committee (AAC), and the Center for Faculty Enrichment (CAFÉ) will be announced.
