Kevin: What does a typical day look like for you at work?

Binta: Most days I am responsible for setting up auditions for the projects I am covering. I also help update master lists of actors we’ve auditioned or reached out to for a project, create documents used to book actors for roles they’re cast in, read the scripts for upcoming episodes, and stay up to date on work in the city, so I go see shows at the theatre or watch TV and movies.

Kevin: What advice would you give to first-year students in the Honors College?

Binta: The Honors classes and enhancements can be some of the best tools to help broaden your horizons. Take advantage of those opportunities to take a new class or enhance a class you’re passionate about.

Kevin: What advice would you give to seniors about to graduate from the Honors College?

Binta: The Honors College network is a thriving community of scholars of different backgrounds who are always there for their peers and students. Remember that feeling of Community and what it means to be a part of something larger than yourself. Help people both on your level and those that come after you - that sensitivity is going to make you an asset anywhere you work.

Kevin: If you could do college over again, what would you do differently?

Binta: I would have explored the clubs and organizations on campus that I was interested in, even if it was just one meeting. Don’t be afraid, nervous, or embarrassed about the things you’re interested in. If you are entitled to one thing in your college experience; it is to stay true to yourself.

Kevin: What do you love most about Longwood?

Binta: I am inspired and enamored by our community borne from people who have the urge to help, learn, listen, and evolve into their own take on what makes a citizen leader.

Kevin: Who was your most significant role model at Longwood?

Binta: My most significant role model at Longwood was my peer mentor class of summer 2014. These students were some of the kindest, funniest, strongest, wisest, most open-hearted group of people who encouraged me to be the best person I wanted to be. I will always remember that summer as one of the best summers of my life. I worked alongside an incredible group to welcome in a new class of students and I have them to thank for enriching my life and my love for Longwood.
