The Survey Latte: From Design to Data
Year-Long FLC

First Meeting: Friday, October 17, from 9:00 to 9:50 am.
Where: 310 Allen Hall, CAFE Lounge

This FLC, focused on survey research design, data collection, and analysis, is a collaborative group of faculty from various disciplines who meet several times a semester to enhance their skills in developing sound survey research methodologies and effectively executing studies.
Our main focus will be:
- Design Studies: Discuss and refine their individual research questions that should be answered using survey research.
- Collect Data: Share practical strategies and tools for efficient and ethical data collection, including instrumentation, recruitment procedures, and data management.
- Analyze Data: Workshop data analysis plans, troubleshoot statistical analysis challenges, and interpret findings effectively for presentation and publication.
The community's primary goal is to provide structured support to help faculty move their research projects from conception through to a rigorous, well-executed conclusion.
Graduate Faculty Learning Community: Creating Community in a Digital World
Year-Long FLC
Facilitator: Erin S. Wallace
First Meeting: Wednesday, October 22, at 12:00
Where: Zoom for the first meeting, https://longwood-edu.zoom.us/j/92701091039
(I would love this to be a hybrid (in person one month, Zoom the next) over lunch on Wednesdays at 12)
Register: https://forms.gle/jfi7XinUtdbhp9x99
This FLC will examine how to foster meaningful connections in both virtual and in-person environments with our students and colleagues. As teaching, mentoring, and collaboration increasingly occur online, faculty face both the challenge and opportunity of cultivating authentic community in digital spaces. This monthly meeting will provide space to exchange ideas and strategies that promote belonging, engagement, and collaboration across diverse settings. Together, we will explore evidence-based practices, share experiences, and consider tools that enhance interaction while reducing isolation. Faculty will leave the session with practical approaches for building supportive, inclusive, and dynamic learning communities that extend beyond the screen.
