WE’VE GOT A REFLECTION ASSIGNMENT FOR YOU
CAFE is collaborating with Student Affairs to encourage students to connect what they are learning in the classroom to their co-curricular experiences.  We hope to enhance and support these learning experiences by providing faculty with reflection assignments (including event learning outcomes) that you can tailor to your course. Please consider including these (one or two or all) programs in your course. Using the TILT (Transparency in Learning and Teaching) method, each reflection assignment will include a purpose and task. Trigger Warnings (TW) seem to be everywhere from social media to the college classroom. This hot button issue can put faculty in a difficult position, when they’re asked to offer a TW or criticized for not doing so. In this guided discussion, we will present leading research in the field on the effectiveness of TW. We will also offer opportunities to discuss how TW’s should be implemented in the classroom, if at all.

How can you classroom spaces affect LGBTQ+ students and their performance in (and out of) the classroom. In this interactive workshop, we will explore ways to incorporate LGBTQ+-based content into your pedagogy, teaching practices, and lessons. Be sure to bring a course syllabus, assignment, or your teaching philosophy, as we will work directly to find ways to incorporate LGBTQ+ content and/or elements of queer pedagogy into your current teaching and classes. Join us for a panel discussion as Current and former editors Rhonda Brock, Audrey Church, and Carl Harvey summarize best practices for journal submissions, followed by a question and answer session.

CAFE AND CIVITAE COLLABORATION
CONSTRUCTIVE DIALOGUE INSTITUTE TRAINING AND EVENTS
The Constructive Dialogue Institute (CDI) will offer multiple virtual trainings and workshops during the spring semester for faculty and staff interested in developing skills in the area of facilitating dialogue with students.  Topics this spring include incorporating dialogue in the classroom and balancing free speech while limiting harm to marginalized groups on campus.

Join CAFE for pomodoro sessions again this semester. All faculty and staff are welcome. The sessions use a focused cycle: set a goal, work towards it for 25 minutes, and then take a five-minute break. You will repeat the cycle three times. Choose the session that fits your needs:
