Faculty, Staff, and Students engaging in outside activities must be aware of and prepare for ‘Real World’ hazards such as:

Cold Weather

Hot Weather

Sun Burn

Thunder Storms

Tornados

Unsafe Drinking Water

Poisonous Plants

Stings and Bites

Animal Attacks

First Aid Kits

AED Access

Hygienic Practices

Water and Boating Safety

Most of this is simple common sense stuff like:

· If you’re walking from your residence hall to the dining hall during heavy snow don’t wear flip-flops.

· If you’re going out on the boat at the Baliles Center, wear a life preserver and sun protection.

· If you go blackberry picking behind Lancer Park, wear long clothing for protection from ticks, chiggers, thorns, and poison ivy.

But if you’re going into more wilderness like locals, research the hazards and prepare accordingly.
