Safety Equipment

• AEDs- Automated External Defibrillators are located in most Longwood buildings. AED Locations

 - Always call 911 or 395-2091 in an emergency. Watch this training video on the proper use of an AED.

• First-Aid boxes are checked regularly to maintain an adequate supply, but please notify us if you see an item has been used or is running low. First-Aid Cabinet Locations
• Multi-gas Air Monitors - detect the presence of unsafe gases. At Longwood these are most commonly used when maintenance work needs to be done in a confined space such as a steam tunnel.
• Confined Space Rescue Tripods- are used to hoist a person into or out of a confined space.
• PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) - Hard Hats, Hearing Protection, Eye Protection, Protective Clothing, Safety Gloves, Respirators - are just a sample of the types of PPE used at Longwood. 
• Fire Safety Equipment
  • Fire Extinguishers - Fire Extinguishers are inspected on a monthly basis to ensure they are in proper working condition. If an extinguisher gauge's arrow is not in the green area of the gauge please call EHS at ext. 2940 or 434-395-2940, provide the building and room number where the extinguisher is located so it can be replaced.

• Emergency Eye wash, Drench Hoses and Shower stations are located in areas where corrosives or irritants are used. Such as chemical labs and mechanical rooms and art labs.
