Student Employees are employees in OSHA’s eyes and they are protected under the same safety regulations you are. Students are typically young people lacking in real world experiences and young people’s brains overvalue reward to risks until about age 25. Therefore, student employees must be closely supervised for any safe work practices. This ultimately depends on the work the student employee is assigned.
