Global Lancers Week 2024: Imagine the Possibilities - April 1-6, 2024
The Center for Global Engagement invites the Longwood community to join us April 1-6 for Global Lancers Week 2024: Imagine the Possibilities. We’ll be celebrating international education in all its forms! Come join us for a series of engaging events every day - don’t miss out!
Monday, 4/1
- Men’s Tennis vs. UNC Greensboro at 2 PM. Support our international student-athletes on the Men’s Tennis team, here at our home courts!
- Sip and Study in Greenwood Library from 3-5 PM. Join the CGE to enjoy some international snacks and bubble tea while taking a break from textbooks–mingle with fellow students, and make studying a little more delicious.
- Iftar Night in Blackwell Ballroom at 7 PM. As we observe the holy month of Ramadan, join the Muslim Student Association (MSA) for Iftar Night to learn more about the tradition, celebrate Ramadan, and break your fast in the company of friends and community members.
Tuesday, 4/2
- CGE Open House in the Lankford Global Engagement Lounge from 9-11 AM. Enjoy a morning filled with coffee and breakfast treats while learning about what the Center for Global Engagement has to offer.
- Global Leaders Social with International Students at Stubbs Lawn at 6 PM. Join Global Leaders and international students for a night of fun outdoor games.
Wednesday, 4/3
Dr. Janelle S. Peifer, licensed clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Richmond, will offer faculty and student workshops on intercultural competence. Dr. Peifer’s research focuses on the development of intercultural competence among college students. Recent publications address intercultural competence, short-term study abroad, and assessment in global learning.
- Building Intercultural Competence Within + Outside of the Classroom with Dr. JanellePeifer (for faculty & staff) in Soza Ballroom from 2-3 PM.
- Intercultural Competence in Action: An Interactive Workshop for Students with Dr. Janelle Peifer in Soza Ballroom from 4-5 PM.
Thursday, 4/4
- Around the World Trivia in the Upchurch Lounge on the 1st floor from 3:30-5 PM. Test your knowledge in a globally themed pub quiz. Prizes for winning teams!
Friday, 4/5
- Foreign Film Night: The Raid, Indonesian, High Street Theatre, 7 PM
Saturday, 4/6
- Global Leaders Tennis Tailgate + Men’s and Women’s Tennis Match vs. NC A&T in Longwood Tennis Courts at 2 PM. Come join us at the Global Leaders Tennis Tailgate before cheering on our international student-athletes in their matches against NC A&T. Show your support with creative signs and enjoy snacks and drinks!
