  • What should I do if I feel my parking citation was issued in error?
    • You may submit an appeal. Appeals must be submitted in writing (and given to the Longwood Police Department) or online (through the AIMs Parking Portal) within five working days of the date on the citation or the right to appeal is forfeited. Please include images or documentation as evidence to support your case.
  • Does Longwood tow cars?
    • Yes, if you have four unpaid parking tickets on your account, the fifth parking offense will result in a tow.
  • Who sets the pricing for permits, fines and fees?
    • The Board of Visitors.
  • I have misplaced my hangtag. What should I do?
    • You must purchase a $10 replacement permit in Eason 206. Cash and check are the only forms of accepted payment methods.

Students

  • I am trying to register for classes, and I have a hold on my account for an outstanding parking citation(s). What should I do?
    • You must pay your outstanding balance(s) before the hold can be removed. Contact Student Accounts at (434) 395-2067 or studentaccountsoffice@longwood.edu for additional information.
  • What forms of payment does Parking Services accept?
    • Credit and debit card payments are accepted online only. Cash and check are the only accepted in-person payment options. In-person payments can be made in the Cashiering Office in Eason 201A.
  • What should I do if I cannot pick up my permit during regular business hours?
    • Please notify Parking Services at parking@longwood.edu. We will give your permit to Longwood Police so that you can pick it up after hours. You will need to present your Lancer ID Card.
  • My vehicle has broken down on campus. What should I do?
    • For assistance during business hours, please call the Facilities Management Department at (434) 395-2899. After hours, you may contact the Longwood Police Department at (434) 395-4946 for assistance. If your vehicle is disabled and parked in the wrong lot, please notify Longwood Police or Parking Services immediately of your trouble.
  • I need to request a parking refund. How can I do this?
    • Please email parking@longwood.edu that you would like to request a permit refund and provide a reason. You must return your permit before your refund can be issued.
  • What should I do if I only plan to park on campus a few times during the semester?
  • Do I need a permit if I only want to park on campus after 5pm or on weekends?
    • Yes, parking regulations are enforced 24/7, 365 days a year. You will receive a citation if you do not follow parking regulations.
  • I received a citation but my friend/peer/professor told me I could park there. What should I do?
    • If you are in doubt, contact Parking Services at (434) 395-2319 or parking@longwood.edu. While the source’s intentions may have been to help, they will not be responsible for your citation.
  • Can I let my friend borrow my parking permit?
    • No, you may not give your permit to anyone. Doing so may result in an Honor and Conduct Board referral.
  • When are parking regulations enforced?
    • Parking regulations are enforced 24/7, 365 days a year.
  • Are freshmen allowed to have a vehicle/park on campus?
    • Yes, freshmen are eligible to purchase a parking permit. The dedicated parking lot for freshmen is located in Lancer Park and is clearly marked with freshman parking signs.
  • Can I register more than one vehicle?
  • If I leave a note on my vehicle explaining why I am parking in a particular location, will I still receive a parking citation?
    • Yes, notes do not justify illegal parking or parking outside of your permit zone. Enforcement officers will disregard any notes left on vehicles.
  • I purchased my permit. Where can I park?
    • Refer to the campus parking map by scanning the QR code on the back of your permit. The color of the lot may not match the color of your permit. Please only compare the name on your permit to the name of the zone (i.e., Freshman, Resident, Commuter, etc.).
  • How can I obtain a student guest pass?
    • Log in to the AIMs Parking Portal and select Order Permits. You will see the student guest pass option. Student guest passes are free of charge and are only valid for the visitor lots located on Vernon St. or Lancer Park for 72 hours.
  • Can I purchase a one semester permit instead of a full year permit?
    • You have the option to purchase a semester only permit if you are student teaching in the Spring semester, participating in a Spring internship, studying abroad, or graduating in December.
  • I often park on campus late and feel uncomfortable walking around campus after dark. How can I get to my destination safely?
    • Each parking lot has an emergency phone located near the entrance which rings directly to the Farmville Police Department Dispatch Center. Tell the Dispatcher you would like an escort to your destination. Provide a brief description and location of your car, return to the vehicle and lock your doors, and only exit your car when the police vehicle arrives. We recommend adding the Campus Police number to your phone: (434) 395-2091.
  • What should I do if I am currently using a loaner or rental car?
    • You can add a temporary vehicle to your account in the AIMs Parking Portal. Please make sure to switch your hangtag to the vehicle you are currently using.
  • If I have a handicap placard, am I still required to obtain a parking permit?
    • All individuals with a valid handicap placard are eligible for a free permit. To obtain your permit, either email parking@longwood.edu a picture of your handicap placard or bring it to Eason.
  • Where should I park if I have a handicap placard/plate but all the accessible parking spaces are occupied?
    • If you obtained your free parking permit from Parking Services, you are eligible to park in the lots associated with your permit.
  • If I would like to submit a written citation appeal, where should I submit it?
    • All written appeals must be submitted to Longwood Police, located on the ground floor of Dorrill Dining Hall.
  • Does Longwood offer alternative forms of transportation?
    • Yes, students may use the Farmville Area Bus (FAB) for transportation around Farmville. Please visit https://longwood.edu/parking to view the FAB routes and times.
  • Can I order a student guest pass for personal use?
    • No, this is strictly prohibited. Doing so may result in a referral to the Honor and Conduct Board and the removal of guest permit ordering privileges.

Faculty/Staff

  • How can I enroll in payroll deductions for my permit? How much are payroll deductions for my permit?
    • Please ask Human Resources for a payroll deductions form. The amount of payroll deductions per pay period is determined by your salary range. The Payroll Office can provide the specific amount.
  • Can I register more than one vehicle?
    • Yes, you can add multiple vehicles to your account by logging in to the AIMs Parking Portal. Please remember to switch your hangtag to the vehicle you are currently using.
  • My department is expecting a visitor to come to campus. How can I arrange reserved parking?
  • What should I do if I am currently using a loaner or rental car?
    • You may add this vehicle as a temporary vehicle through the AIMs Parking Portal. Please remember to switch your hangtag to the vehicle you are currently using.
  • Do I need to renew my permit annually?
    • No, your Faculty/Staff permit is valid until separation from the university.
  • I forgot my hangtag. What should I do?
    • Immediately email parking@longwood.edu notifying our office that you forgot your hangtag and provide your vehicle plate, make, model, and color including the lot you plan to park in. Parking Services will notify Longwood Police.
  • My child attends Longwood. Can I let them borrow my Faculty/Staff permit?
    • No, you may not give your permit to anyone. Those using a borrowed permit will receive a parking citation.
  • Can I obtain an additional Faculty/Staff permit?
    • No, Faculty/Staff members may only have one permit.
  • What if I have found my lost permit?
    • Please return the permit to Parking Services in Eason 206.

Visitors

  • I am not affiliated with Longwood, but I received a parking citation. How can I appeal or pay for my citation?
    • Please visit https://longwood.aimsparking.com and select Appeal Ticket or submit a written appeal to Longwood Police, located on the ground floor of Dorrill Dining Hall. Appeal forms may be obtained through Longwood Police. You must submit your appeal within five working days of the date on the citation or the right to appeal is forfeited.
  • I am planning to visit campus. Where can I park?
    • Visitors may park in the Vernon St. Lot, visitor spaces at Lancer Park, or the visitor spaces at the library. The Radcliffe visitor lot is reserved for Admissions visitors only.
  • Do I need a guest pass to park on campus?
    • If you are visiting a student Monday through Friday, the student will need to obtain a guest permit online using the AIMs Parking Portal. Guest permits should be clearly displayed on the dashboard and are valid in the Vernon St. Lot and the visitor spaces at Lancer Park.
    • Parents visiting students can visit Parking Services in Eason 206 if closer parking proximity is preferred.
    • Visitors for campus events should contact Events and Ceremonies at (434) 395-2005 for approved parking locations.

 

Contractors

  • How can I obtain a contractor permit?
    • Before you can obtain a permit, you will need to visit the Lancer Card Office in Eason 204 to receive a contractor ID card. Once you have your card, Parking Services in Eason 206 can issue you the $10 contractor permit. Be sure to have your vehicle information. Cash and check are the only forms of accepted payment methods.
  • Where can I park with a contractor permit?
    • Contractors are only permitted to park in the Vernon St. Lot, designated by the color pink on the campus parking map.
