This weekend marks a noteworthy milestone in the continuous evolution of Longwood's digital presence, with a refresh of our website designed to enhance our visual brand and improve user experience. Before the official launch, we're offering faculty and staff an exclusive sneak peek this week.
What's New?
This refresh is not a complete overhaul of the website but simply an iterative refresh that embraces current design standards, ensuring our website looks and feels more modern and engaging.
A significant highlight of this refresh is our mobile-first approach. Recognizing that nearly two-thirds of our website visitors are accessing it through mobile devices, the new layout prioritizes the mobile user experience.
Additionally, we've focused on user-friendly functionality. One notable feature is the combined web and people search, allowing for a smoother search experience without the need to toggle between options. This and other improvements are designed to make our website as intuitive and efficient as possible.
Preview Opportunity
Before we go live, we invite you to explore the refreshed website this week. This is your chance to see the improvements firsthand and provide feedback via this form if you encounter any issues. Your input is invaluable as we continue to tweak before the launch.
You can preview the refreshed website here:

(log in with your Lancer ID and password)
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you preview:
- Solomon is unaffected: The refresh will only affect our public-facing website (www.longwood.edu), not our faculty/staff intranet (solomon.longwood.edu).
- Content is largely untouched: The refresh will primarily affect the visual design aspects of the website. The content for most pages will remain unchanged.
- Content may appear outdated in the preview: The preview is based on a snapshot of the website from last week, so the information may not be as up-to-date as our current live website. Rest assured, all content will be the most recent version upon the official launch.
- Some links may not appear to work properly in the preview: Occasionally, you may follow a link that puts you back onto the current website. This won't be an issue once the site is live. If this happens, you can replace 'www' in the URL bar with 'refresh' and see the new, updated version of that page.
This refresh is the next step forward in our ongoing effort to enhance our digital presence. Explore the updated site, share your thoughts, and help us ensure a smooth transition! For the next few weeks after the launch, we'll continue to address any issues that arise, and you can continue to use the feedback form or drop us a note at webteam@longwood.edu at any time.
