The Payroll Office, 1st floor Eason Hall, is responsible for ensuring that all employees of the University are paid timely and accurately while maintaining compliance with federal, state and University regulations and policies.

All paperwork involving payroll changes need to be submitted by the 1st of the month to be paid on the 1st of the following month and on the 16th to be paid on the 16th of the following month. This includes, but is not limited to, salary changes, reclassifications, additional pays, etc. Hiring Reports need to be received in HR a minimum of 10 days prior to the date of hire.

Full-Time Faculty & Staff Payroll

Faculty, Administrative and Professional, and Classified employees are paid on a semi-monthly basis at Longwood University, with paydays falling on the 1st (covers period: 10th - 24th workdays) and 16th (covers period: 25th - 9th workdays) of the month. When the 1st or the 16th falls on a weekend or holiday, payday is usually the last business day before the weekend or a holiday.     

Classified: Employees must submit timesheets by 5:00pm each Monday. Supervisors must approve timesheets by 5:00pm each Tuesday.

Wage Payroll

Student Payroll

Students employed in an hourly wage capacity at Longwood are paid on a bi-weekly basis. The workweek is from 12:01 a.m. Sunday through 12:00 a.m.  the following Saturday. Student employees must complete a time sheet through web-time entry in Banner Self Service by the submission deadline in order to receive a check on the scheduled pay date. Hours submitted after the deadline will be included on the next scheduled payday.

Additional Payroll Information

Moving & Relocation- Longwood University may offer reimbursement for moving and relocation expenses for select new administrative and faculty positions. To insure that you receive the maximum reimbursement to which you are entitled, please contact the Longwood University Payroll Office at (434)395-2261. Garnishment of Wages - Upon receipt of legal documentation, the University is required by law to withhold monies from an employee's wages to satisfy certain debts, referred to as involuntary deductions. Employees should also receive prior notification of a debt collection by the issuing court or authorized agency.
